A vintage 52 page booklet containing a large, full-color fold-out map of Nice.

Nice will always have a special place in my heart. It was one of the first places I visited in France when I was just 18 and backpacking around the country. Having grown up near the ocean in southern California I have a real love for beaches and coastlines and the Côte d’Azur has some of the finest in the world. I didn’t come back to Nice until the mid-1990s but after than I visited almost every year. Now that Carole and Iive just a few minutes away I’m there on a regular basis, exploring, shopping or showing folks around. It’s too big and noisy (and full of tourists) for me to want to live there full-time, but I do love spending time there.
This little booklet from 1962 contains a large, full-color fold-out map measuring 57cm wide by 46cm tall. It’s interesting to see how Nice has grown in the last 60 years. The booklet itself contains a few advertisements, a map of the French railway system, a short history of Nice, a list of the buses, trollies and other public transportation in the area and complete listing of every street in Nice. There’s even a section dedicated to streets whose names have changed over the year with the old name and the new name.
Everything is in French, of course, but don’t let that stop you. The visual aspects of the booklet are well worth a look.
