To be honest, I never really did a lot of hiking in the US. I did a lot of walking, but not a lot of hiking in the countryside. About five years ago I joined the AVF, an organization that helps newcomers adjust to a new town. One of the many activities they offer is hiking. They have four different levels. I liked the idea of exploring the French countryside so I started hiking with them and I’ve been hooked every since. The opportunities around our area are endless: mountain hikes, coastal hikes, rural hikes, you name it. Here I’ll post information about hikes I do with the AVF and also hikes that I do on my own.
I rate the hikes in one of six categories: Very Easy, Easy, Moderate, Somewhat Difficult, Difficult, Very Difficult.
You can download a small booklet with 11 easy to moderate walks around Vence. It’s available in French and English.
