STEVE AND CAROLE IN VENCE

Vence’s Trees

March 29, 2022

Small booklet (in English) outlining a walk through Vence to see the different trees

This little booklet contains a map of Vence with a nice trail through town that allows you to see a large variety of different trees. It starts and ends at the Place du Frêne and makes a big loop through the heart of the town. Symbols on the map indicate where you can see a particular type of tree. Published by the city of Vence in 2004 it’s pretty hard to find these days so I wanted to make it available for folks who will enjoy it.

The booklet covers a wide variety of trees including: ash, lime, oak, olive, cypress, fig, chestnut, judas, carob/St. John’s Bread, Chinese persimmon, Japanese persimmon, palm, plane, umbrella pine, stone pine, jujube, nettle, lotus and acacia. There’s information about each species including their origins and Latin names. It’s a wonderful walk and this booklet will allow you to really get to know the trees in our area.
