The postcards in this collection manufactured under the name of Levy Fils et Cie all have pretty much the same layout and design.
Some of the cards feature a hand colored photograph on the front, while others feature either a sepia toned or black and white photograph. Every card contains a location and a short description, as well as a number, on the front ranging from 1 to (at least) 34. The description is always followed by the letters “LL.” I’m not sure what these mean though I have seen them on other cards as well. No further information is found on the backs of the cards.
A few cards contain a “Selecta” logo on the front. The backs of the cards follow two basic layouts, both very similar to each other.
All of the cards contain the same partial address on the back:
LEVY FILS ET CIE, PARIS
It’s possible that this manufacturer is related to another with 16 cards in this collection, Levy et Neurdein Reunis. Both were based in Paris.
There is also a strong possibility that this company is related to two others: Edition L.R. and Cagnoli Papeterie. Some of the cards manufactured by Edition L.R. and Cagnoli Papeterie use the exact same photo, number and description as some here in the Levy Fils et Cie collection. The difference often being that those in the Levy Fils et Cie collection are hand tinted. In at least one case the words “Cagnoli Papeterie” are printed on the front of the Levy Fils et Cie card (#1).
